Admission

Adults: $15.00 Youth (Age 7 to 17): $8.00 Child (Age 3 to 6): $5.00 includes FREE annual pass 2 and under: FREE

Hours of Operation

Daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

 

Annual Pass

An Adult Annual Pass is regular admission plus $14.00. Youth and Senior (65 years+) Annual Passes are regular admission plus $12.00. Your admission fee supports our work as a not-for-profit organization. Thank you! We happily accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and debit cards. To purchase online, click here.

Accessibility

The Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre is entirely accessible. Companions of special needs visitors are admitted free.

Parking

Free parking is available for two hours in the parkade under the building. Pay parking is available next door to the Centre.

Directions By Car

The Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre is located at 9811 Seaport Place (off Beacon Avenue) on the waterfront in Sidney.

From Victoria

(30 minutes) Leave downtown on Blanshard Street which becomes Highway #17 north. Exit the highway to the right at Beacon Avenue, Sidney and proceed to the waterfront.

From Clipper Ferry

(30 minutes) Transportation from the Clipper Ferry in Victoria’s Inner Harbour is available. Visit Clipper Vacations for more information.

From BC Ferries – Swartz Bay Terminal

(Ten minutes) Follow Highway #17 south from the terminal and turn left at the first traffic signal onto Beacon Avenue.

From Washington State Ferry – Sidney Terminal

(Two minutes) Proceed straight north along the waterfront from the terminal. There we are!

From Victoria International Airport

(Ten minutes) From airport proceed to Highway #17 and turn left (north) on #17 to Beacon Avenue, Sidney. Turn right onto Beacon and proceed to the waterfront.

Directions By Bus

From Victoria

Catch a 70/71/72 or 73 from downtown to Sidney. Get off at 5th Street and walk down Beacon Avenue towards the waterfront.

From BC Ferries – Swartz Bay Terminal

School Programs

2012/2013

We offer a range of environmental education programs focused on the Salish Sea ecosystem for preschool through grade 12. Complete your program by December 21, 2012 and receive books valued at $30.00 for your classroom!

Book a School Bus!

Special bus packages are available for classes coming to the Centre!

Packages include transportation and school program admission. For details and to book your bus, call 250.665.7511 or email groups@oceandiscovery.ca.

20 – 39 students (minimum 20): $15 per student + HST

Salish Sea Marineapedia

Discover. Share. Inspire.

 

My Salish Sea Marineapedia is a citizen science project launched by the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre. Students and classes are encouraged to collect information, photos and videos about the fascinating species that live in our local waters. Discover the biodiversity of your ocean, share what you learn and inspire others to make a difference!

Visit mysalishsea.ca to register your class as Citizen Scientists. Work as a group or individually!

Salish Sea School Summer Camp!

Peninsula Co-Op’s Salish Sea School Camps run Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Children in Grades 1-5 are welcome to attend (completed in June 2013).

Camp #7 Aug 26-30

 

Each camp will combine educational experiences within the Centre, with field & boat trips, and time for fun, games and art. In order to provide a quality experience, group numbers are limited to 10 participants.

Registration starts March 20th, 2013, and can be done in person or by phone (250)665-7511. Cost is $230 per child.
